HOW DID YOU BECOME AN AUTHOR?

My chronic illness toppled my career, putting the breaks on everything except my laptop. I needed an outlet for my situation, so I wrote about a guy who couldn't die.

After that, I just kept going because it brings me purpose and is something I can do during the times I feel better.

WILL MAZZ GET A SEQUEL?

Yes. In fact, Mazz's journey is mapped into a trilogy:

  1. I, Nano (2022)

  2. I, Rebel (2023)

  3. Not Named Yet (2024)

Will DAY AFTER INFINITY HAVE A SEQUEL?

Yes. INFINITY AFTER will extend Ryan's evolution this fall. It takes him in a completely new direction that I hope fans will enjoy. It digs deeper into the boundaries of the definition of "self."

ARE I, NANO & DAY AFTER INFINITY IN THE SAME UNIVERSE?

Yes and no. DAY AFTER INFINITY is one of several possible futures that I intend to write–if I ever get around to it.

DAI comes 100 years after I, NANO.

HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH CHARACTER NAMES?

I write my novels with placeholder names and add names to a list along the way, some good, most bad. I hear some names and read others, coming from all sorts of places like news articles, misread words, and random syllables that pop into my thoughts at random times.

If I find a name that really suits a character, I try it out. I might swap names for a character up to five times before I settle on one.

WHERE DID THE IDEA FOR METAL COME FROM?

That is an excellent question. I read an article about a bacteria from a Chilean mine called leptospirillum ferriphilum that can consume a 16-penny nail in a day.

The demon within me went to the worst place possible. Weaponizing rust.
